As energy costs weigh increasingly heavily on operating budgets, optimising every kilowatt-hour has become a strategic priority. In Senegal, where electricity prices are among the highest in the region, SEN’EAU (a subsidiary of the Suez group) is taking action.

KMS: the heart of Dakar’s drinking water supply

Located 250 kilometres from Dakar, the Keur Momar Sarr (KMS) plant plays a vital role: it supplies up to 300,000 m3 of drinking water per day to the capital, the equivalent of three fifths of its consumption.

For SEN’EAU, the site operator, controlling the energy bill is no longer optional. It is an absolute priority to ensure sustainable, reliable and cost-effective production.

Objectives: see, understand and optimise every energy use

To identify the real levers of efficiency, SEN’EAU now relies on Qualisteo’s expertise. The deployed solution combines:

  • Lynx cabinets: electrical sub-meters installed across the site to accurately measure the electricity consumption of more than 160 pieces of equipment;
  • The Wattseeker platform, an energy management software enabling energy performance monitoring, analysis and optimisation.

This detailed and continuous visibility enables fast, informed and profitable decision-making.

A strong ambition

Savings will be closely monitored, but early estimates are already promising: up to a 15% reduction in energy consumption.

This is a powerful lever to reduce operating costs, lower the carbon footprint and strengthen the resilience of a site essential to Dakar’s water supply.
