How Qualisteo secures its clients' energy data

From sub-meter to dashboard, every step in the journey of consumption data is specifically protected.

A secure server hosts energy consumption data

A consumption curve reflects how an industrial site operates, from its production hours to its shutdown periods. This information has strategic value for the company and calls for the same level of protection as its other sensitive data. Qualisteo designed its Lynx metering system and its Wattseeker platform with this requirement in mind, from the collection of readings to their consultation.

Encrypted transmission, independent of the site network

Lynx sub-meters send their readings to the servers over the 4G/5G network, in encrypted form. They operate without any connection to the plant's internet network.

In this case, no metering equipment is grafted onto the site's IT infrastructure. Nor does any energy data pass through it.

Sovereign hosting in France

Consumption data is stored on dedicated servers, all located in France and rented from French companies. No US or Chinese company is involved in hosting it. Backups and redundancy complete this set-up and limit the risk of loss.

In response to a significant legal risk

The Dutch National Cyber Security Centre points out that the US Cloud Act allows federal authorities to demand data from technology companies. This obligation also applies to data stored outside the United States.

The organisation also cites China's Data Security Law, whose scope likewise extends beyond national borders.

Access levels modelled on the group's organisation

The Wattseeker energy management software lets you define separate access levels by profile. Site teams only view data for their own site. A regional management team sees consumption for the country or region it oversees. The group's global management has data aggregated worldwide.

Each user works within their own scope. Information flows follow the company hierarchy, without exposing a site's data to people who are not responsible for it.

Remote maintenance protected by VPN

Qualisteo teams can carry out maintenance and updates of Lynx sub-meters remotely. To do so, they use a virtual private network, or VPN, which protects the connection all the way to the equipment.
